Chloé Curates presents Swiss artist Caroline Denervaud
Paris-based Denervaud is the fourth artist to be spotlighted by Chloé and its Creative Director Gabriela Hearst
Combining both dance and painting in her practice, Caroline Denervaud explores the possibilities of movement through her work.
Renowned for her large-format paintings, videos and live performances, Denervaud records her process, which involves using her body on the canvas to create traces of her movements.
Denervaud trained at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London before studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris and Studio Berçot where she specialised in fashion design. Her diverse experiences play out in her work as colours dance across the canvas like diaphanous fabrics.
“I often decide to work on this structure,” Denervaud says of her practice. “Then the colours arrive, shaking up the initial trace, restructuring the forms and their interactions, creating a dialogue.”
Chloé has collaborated with Denervaud on an exclusive capsule collection including a hobo bag, a scarf, Nama sneakers, a blouse and ceramic bowls as well as a dress cut from organic silk featuring a lively print of one of the artist’s paintings.
