This unique and innovative digital ID, is a technology that will allow users to scan the labels of products with a smartphone, enabling them to trace their item from field to the finished piece. It will also grant them access to an ownership certificate which will allow direct resale through Vestiaire Collective, as well as detailing product care & repair information.
Three product categories are included for this first launch: bags, shoes and ready-to-wear, and Chloé’s suppliers and manufacturers have been involved in every step of the project. This collaboration has allowed the Maison to trace the entire supply chain and production process for each of the products included within the Chloé Vertical capsule.
The 100% traceable materials used in the Chloé Vertical collection are linen, silk, wool and leather.
Working in partnership with the farming cooperative Terre de Lin, the linen used for the ready-to-wear is from Normandy, France and it is grown using lower-impact farming processes. The linen is also spun and woven in France. The silk used in the range is Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified.
All leather is sourced from French farms, and the hides are then tanned by the French tannery Haas, which carries the ‘Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant’ (EPV) or ‘Living Heritage Company’ label, and is part of the Leather Working Group.
Reinterpreting the iconic leather goods line, this classic loafer is made from semi-grained calfskin and comes with a unique and innovative digital ID so you can trace its production journey from field to finished product.
Here customers can learn more about the entire manufacturing process, find care and repair instructions, and also locate their product certificate of authenticity, complete with a unique ownership number. Through this certificate section, customers will have access to a link to facilitate the product’s future second-hand resale directly through Vestiaire Collective (service available in Europe, United Kingdom and United States).
Chloé Vertical provides clients with the information they need in order to consume more consciously and the industry with an open-source Vertical methodology.
